Brilliant gold in color with well-integrated and complex aromas of tropical fruit, peach, dried apricot, honey, and a light floral character balance by hints of coconut, vanilla, and toasted notes. Round palate with a full mouthfeel, excellent structure and balance.
The moderate crop of the 2005 harvest and a mild winter left hardy and healthy vines for the 2006 growing season. No spring frost affected the buds, and we had an average bud-break, followed by healthy flowering and fruit-set. The vineyard benefited from a warm summer with moderate and timely rains. After veraison, we had a cool ripening period, with above average moisture approaching harvest. This pushed back the harvesting of early-ripening varieties and resulted in a normal picking date of late-ripening varieties.
