This wine displays medium garnet/ruby in color with aromas of red and dark cherry, peppercorn with hints of mocha & oak. Medium-bodied, the palate displays rich and juicy flavours of red & dark berries, supple tannins, balanced acidity and followed by a lingering, smooth fruity finish. Serve at 16 - 18 C and best consumed within 3-6 years of vintage.
Grapes for the 2014 Syrah were sourced from a grower with a vineyard in Osoyoos, (South Okanagan Valley). The vines, which are grafted onto rootstock, are approximately 10 years old, and thrive in the silt and sandy loam soils of the hot, desert-like climate. The wine spent 14 months in oak: 60% French, 40% American.
Our Syrah is best matched with robust dishes such as grilled meats and vegetables, beef stew. Fire up the BBQ and try barbecued ribs and hamburgers, peppercorn or bison steak, spice-rubbed chicken. Or be adventurous with game casseroles, venison stew, and braised lamb shanks.
