This wine displays medium garnet/ruby in color with aromas of red and dark cherry, peppercorn with hints of mocha & oak. Medium-bodied, the palate displays rich and juicy flavours of red & dark berries, supple tannins, balanced acidity and followed by a lingering, smooth fruity finish. Serve at 16 - 18 C and best consumed within 3-6 years of vintage.
Grapes for the 2008 Syrah were sourced from vineyards in Oliver and Osoyoos. This area, known as the South Okanagan Valley, is much hotter and drier with less than 5 inches of rainfall per year. The vines, which are grafted onto rootstock, thrive in sand & gravel type soils of the desert-like climate and produce some of the best red wine grown in Canada.
Fire up the BBQ and try barbecued ribs and hamburgers, peppercorn or bison steak, spice-rubbed chicken. Be adventurous with game casseroles, stews, braised lamb shanks or a buttered baguette with cheddar cheese.
