Chardonnay is truly one of the great grape varieties produced in Niagara, and our example from our Triomphe line is an excellent place to start.
Grapes were harvested from the Reimer and Gemmrich organic vineyards, and gently pressed to release juice which was cool settled for 12 hours before being racked to stainless steel for indigenous fermentation and aging on the lees. Southbrook Estate Chardonnay was harvested, whole cluster pressed, cool settled and racked to French oak barrels for indigenous fermentation and aging on the lees before careful barrel selection and blending with the stainless steel lot. Filtration and sterile bottling.
The nose presents melon, apple and pear notes with hints of sweet pea, vanilla and oak spice.
Palate is lively with fresh acidity and medium body. Melon persists on to the medium finish leaving the palate cleansed. Great food wine.
