The most widely grown white grape in the Okanagan, Pinot Gris really excels on the Naramata Bench. Our estate Pinot Gris is grown on the upper, western facing slope of our property and benefits from the maximum sun exposure and excellent drainage of the hillside.
The 2014 growing season was a fantastic growing season in the Okanagan valley. An early start in the spring and timely precipitation through June provided the necessities for good vine growth. July and August were very sunny and hot leading to sugar development within the grapes leading to earlier than normal ripening. September was also warm and sunny with cool nights allowing for continued ripening. October was cooler with some precipitation that allowed for extended hang time to ensure phenolic ripeness.
The Pinot Gris is 100% stainless steel fermented to retain the fresh fruit characters the wine is known for. The juice was cool fermented at 14C for 3 weeks which also helps to retain the fruit forward character of the wine.
