The most widely grown white grape in the Okanagan, Pinot Gris really excels on the Naramata Bench. Our estate Pinot Gris is grown on the upper, western facing slope of our property and benefits from the maximum sun exposure and excellent drainage of the hillside.
The 2013 growing season was ideal in the Okanagan in many respects. A well-timed start in the spring and plenty of precipitation through June provided generous vine development. Summer was textbook Okanagan with plentiful warm sunny days and cool nights. The harvest season was dry and temperate, punctuated by a cool and moist trend at the end of September that slowed ripening and allowed extended ‘hang-time’ to build flavour in the grapes before returning to normal, cool and dry October. conditions.
Considered by many to be the signature white grape varietal for the Okanagan, we cold stainless steel tank fermented our Pinot Gris for 14 days to allow the bright, aromatic characteristics of this varietal to really shine. Our winemaker added a dollop of estate Gewürztraminer to contribute added spice appeal and a savoury quality.
This vintage features aromas of peach and apple.
Flavours of Granny Smith apple, green tea and honeydew with a long smooth, crisp finish.
Lovely on its own or paired with soft cheeses, roasted pork or Pad Thai
