The most widely grown white grape in the Okanagan, Pinot Gris really excels on the Naramata Bench. Our estate Pinot Gris is grown on the upper, western facing slope of our property and benefits from the maximum sun exposure and excellent drainage of the hillside.
The growing season for white grapes in 2012 was ideal with plentiful sunshine and a long, cool and dry fall for harvesting. Our Naramata Bench vineyard thrived under these conditions. We chose to harvest at the end of October to allow the slightly larger than expected crop to fully ripen and the grapes arrived at the winery with a textbook flavour profile for this classic aromatic varietal. profile for this classic aromatic varietal.
Considered by many to be the signature white grape varietal for the Okanagan, we tank fermented our Pinot Gris to allow the bright, aromatic characteristics of this popular varietal to really shine. Our winemaker added a touch of estate Gewürztraminer to contribute added spice appeal and a savoury quality.
The wine has a melon and apple aroma.
A crisp apple and pear palate highlighted with citrusy tea in the finish.
Lovely on its own or paired with a variety of soft cheeses, lemon chicken or some milder Asian dishes.
