Tintern Road Estate Vineyard. Tight planting, vertical shoot positioning, shoot thinning, cluster thinning, hand leaf removal and hand harvest. Certified organic & biodynamic.
After acquiring the Tintern property in 2009, world class geologist Yves Harody was brought in to study the site to determine the best possible grape varietal to plant. The uncultivated and un-leveled land still possessed its natural topography and it was determined by Yves that Pinot Noir was the optimal varietal to showcase its undisturbed terroir. In 2010, four acres of Pinot Noir was planted with the first harvest being in 2013, resulting in this inaugural vintage for the Tintern Road Vineyard. Aged 16 months in French Oak barrels; 30% of which were new; this third leaf Pinot Noir has aromas of blackberry, oak, violets and minerality. A rich and round mouth feel with fine tannins are accompanied by hints of sweet cola, cassis and dark chocolate on the palate.
This food friendly wine pairs perfectly with appetizers of Brussel Sprouts with Pancetta or Double Smoked Bacon Grilled Cheese. It is also the perfect accompaniment to fancier fare such as Chateau Briand.
