Viticultural practices included vertical shoot positioning, shoot thinning, cluster thinning, hand-leaf removal and hand-harvest. The Growers Blend series, first introduced in 2008, was conceived to showcase the Niagara Peninsula sites where Pinot expresses its full potential and to capture how it performs in a given vintage.
The Growers Blend Pinot is always a fan favourite and the 2011 is no exception. Hand-harvested from carefully selected vineyards and aged in French oak for 14 months, it displays an expressive nose of cherry, cranberry and a hint of cedar. Vibrant red fruit notes replay on the palate, complemented by lively acidity and soft tannins.
Pinot is renowned for being an extremely food-friendly wine and the 2011 Growers Blend lives up to that reputation. Approachable and fruit-forward, it would be a great companion for dishes with some richness and a hint of spice- think of papardelle with a sausage ragu, osso buco or spicy BBQ chicken.
