Viticultural practices included vertical shoot positioning, shoot thinning, cluster thinning, hand leaf removal and hand harvest. This is the sixth vintage of Gewurztraminer from the organically and biodynamically farmed Quarry Road Vineyard. Two harsh winters have resulted in a low yield at harvest.
Typically this vineyard produces a very fragrant Gewurztraminer but the cooler summer and heavier than normal rain fall resulted in a more demure wine. Citrus, fresh flowers and a hint of lychee can be detected on the nose. Notes of fresh tropical fruit juice and a touch of tanginess come through on the palate.
The tropical notes of this wine make it the perfect choice to pair with any Asian inspired fare such as fresh shrimp Thai spring rolls or chicken satays with peanut sauce. Grilled octopus or an aged sharp cheese would also pair beautifully with this food-friendly wine.
