Growing Conditions

Vintage 2013 was a season of change – early to start, late to nish, and with exceptional avour potential. A warmer than normal spring brought early budbreak followed by an extremely rainy June that slowed vine growth. Balance was restored with above average temperatures in July and August allowing grapes to mature along a normal ripening curve. The warmest vintage since 2003 cooled off just in time for harvest. In September, heavy rainfall caused signi cant delays in the grape harvest resulting in our longest picking season ever. Overall, fruit quality was superb for both red and white varietals and the wines are showing excellent balance and character.

Winemaking

Growing Bordeaux varietals in the Okanagan Valley is challenging with our short growing season. The grapes that do hang on the vine to nearly harvest’s end may be a bit smaller, but they reward us with intense flavours. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot is a full-bodied wine.

Aging

13 months in French and American oak.

Nose

Red cherry and cassis aromas are on the nose and extend through to the first sip.

Palate

Sage, vanilla, lavender, and sandalwood notes intermingle. Thirteen months of oak barrel aging complete the lingering finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot for extra body and tannins.

Food Pairing

This Cabernet Merlot blend is perfectly suited for hearty dishes, especially those with olives, mushrooms, or thyme. Enjoy with duck served over polenta, braised beef ribs, pasta with Bolognese sauce, Asiago cheese, or eggplant Parmesan.
