Warm and long, the 2012 growing season proved ideal for creating bold reds and the Tawse Cabernet Merlot is no exception.
This classic Bordeaux-style blend was assembled from Cabernet Franc (77%), Merlot (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (8%) carefully sourced from select Niagara Peninsula vineyards. The Merlot contributes vibrant fruit – think plum, blackberry and currant- while the Cabernet and the 16 months in French oak bring darker notes of espresso, spice and a touch of graphite. Full-bodied yet approachable, this wine is a versatile everyday red!
With its ripe fruit, balanced acidity and structure, this versatile assemblage will pair with everyday fare just as well as with your Sunday dinner. Enjoy it with a hearty meat lasagna, a juicy burger or with a roast dinner. It would also work with zesty vegetarian dishes like eggplant parmigiana or ratatouille!
