A decidedly more gastronomically inclined, complex and structured rosé that would hold its own alongside many of the world's best. This onion skin-hued wine shows a delicate, yet complex aromatic profile of wild strawberries and raspberries, with floral and peppery touches. The palate mirrors the red berry profile of the nose but adds some nuanced and subtle darker berry flavours. The mid-palate is full, expressive, and ripe with a dry, crisp, snappy cranberry-like acidity bringing it into check and leading to a decidedly savoury extended finish.
2015 was a solid vintage with an early and unusually dry spring that led to early budbreak. Slightly below average precipitation all summer, except June, which was higher then normal. A warm July and August continued into above-seasonal temperatures and lower-than-seasonal precipitation in the fall. With a warm - but not overly hot - year, the whites have complexity while retaining freshness. The extended ripening into November served late reds, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, well.
