An evocative nose of passion fruit, Seville orange marmalade, and a subtle grassy character speaks to the 48% parcel of Sauvignon Blanc, while the extremely late-harvested Sémillon brings a honeyed textural component to the mouthfeel, rounding out the palate. Almost 21 months ageing in mostly French barrels complements the blend and adds a fine oak nuance to this distinguished Ontario Meritage.
J-L refers to the 2009 vintage as a wonderful but challenging year - one that is geared to the complex art of assemblage, judicious vineyard management and extremely low yields. 1.5 tonnes per acre were harvested on average.
