In 2011, adequate heat units and careful harvest scheduling resulted in optimal maturity and great flavour development for our Bordeaux varietals. This classic blend was assembled from 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc, carefully sourced from select vineyards. The nose is expressive, the Merlot contributing vibrant red fruit — think strawberry, cherry and redcurrant — as well as darker notes of chocolate, baking spices and a touch of a lavender from the Cabernet and the 18 months spent in French oak. Fruit is also dominant on the palate with notes of cranberry, raspberry and a hint of cedar. With its lively acidity and strong structure, this cellar-worthy wine will delight for years to come!
This structured wine pairs beautifully with well-seasoned meat. Try with our winemaker Rene Van Ede’s favourite, the Aussie burger topped with bacon and a fried egg! Or enjoy with the exotic flavours of lamb moussaka or beef koftas with a side of tabouleh!
