Blackjack Vineyard (Jordan property) - This is the first single vineyard Pinot Noir release from that site.
After aggressively sorting the bunches the berries were fermented using non-selected (wild) yeast, followed by 33 days of skin contact before pressing.
It was matured in 225L French oak barrels for 18 months before final blending in stainless steel.
Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Ripe dark cherry aromas covered in dark chocolate on the initial aroma. Subtle forrest floor and autumn smokey notes begin to develop in glass, giving indication of where the wine will travel.
On the palate, rich and dark fruit carry through, though a lively acidity helps to layer and stack flavours in subtle and mature manner. Light graphite note transfers through on end of palate that dissipates the longer it stays in the glass.
